Rain rain and more rain

It also has been raining in Brisbane more often than not of late. Though today was sunny and it is supposed to be sunny for a few more days and then more rain is apparently coming. Apart from not being able to get all the washing done and go out it isn't too bad especially when we go and play in the rain and do leaf races in the gutter. Thanks to Emma's bigger cousins she is all kitted up for rainy weather with Sian's lovely raincoat and Alex and Sophie's Jelly Shoes. She does actually own Gum Boots but she couldn't find them when we actually needed them so the Jellys were just fine. Emma is a BIG shoe/boots fan and so she wears and discards them all over the house and shoes can be found at times in the pergola or the toy box just anywhere she has decided to be finished with them.

Hats hats hats

Yes it has been awhile and loads has been going on even some creativity from Mummy. So here are a few hats that she has made Emma and a little friend of ours scored one for her Birthday and she loved it.

PJs from Nana

More of Emma's hats modelled by herself and Hamish before school the other morning.

For Easter Nana sent up some really nice PJs that we wear all the time but finally Mummy got round to taking a picture of us in them. Here we are giggling on Hamish's bed just after bathtime yesterday. Thanks for our lovely PJs Nana.

Shoes shoes shoes and shopping

Negotiating the stairs with all her accessories.
Ready to go out Mum.
A lot of effort went into this little number the other day, she has her shopping bags filled with all sorts of treasures and her nice clothes (Sian's Poncho) and shoes on (her own) and she decided to team them with a necklace from the dress up box (yes they are plastic bones don't ask it was for a old work dress up function African theme I recall) and one of her pretty hats from cousin Sian. We were only going to school to pick up Hamish but all the bags had to come along too.

You may have already heard about Emma's love of shoes and hats, here she is wearing a few pairs. Above are her favourite shoes that are upstairs and she is mastering walking in heels already.

More shoes and her lovely PJs from Aunty Sue and the boys. She can even say duck and point to the ducks when she wears them.

I am a Robot

Why sit on a chair when you can stand on it.... our little daredevil girl

School holiday fun waiting at the train station

Robot Boy - great costume designed by Hamish with some help from Dad

Wrestling Snakes in Ikea

Well Hamish has just returned to school this week after 2 action packed weeks of school holidays. He had a little holiday to the Rainforest where he went bush walking, on a tree top walk (supension bridge throught the rainforest canopy), a spotlighting and glowworm night tour with Daddy, games room, dinner in the restaurant on kids only buffet night, feeding the king parrots and lorikeets and other adventures including daily spa baths on the deck. Now if you ask him what he enjoyed the most of the rainforest holiday he will answer with having dinner in the cafe. Well it was a restaurant and yes there was an endless supply of gummy bears and sour worms at the dessert buffet.

Also during the school holidays we had a trip to Ikea or as Hamish pronouces IKAYA he loved the carts you push your lunch along on in the cafe (there is a trend here isn't there he loves cafes not that he eats much other than cakes and sweets) Emma enjoyed her first Ikea experience and look the fun doesn't need to end there when you get home you can play dress ups with the 35 cent bag you purchased to put your other purchases in. It does make a good robot costume and topped off with an old Ice Cream container he looked great.

Another day we took a train ride to South Brisbane with some school friends to go to the Museum and Gallery of Modern Art. It is very exciting and noisy when you travel on the train with three 5 year old boys, 2 little sisters who are 3 Emma and the Mums. The Mums were the quiet ones. There was other play dates at the park and feeding the ducks and a trip to the movies to see Toy Story and Lego City building to be done. PHEW Mum and Dad are glad holidays are over now cause they need a rest.

17 Months old now

Playing Shop in the clothes she picked out to wear and if you think she looks a little chunky well that is because she has a denim skirt on underneath the summer skirt all teamed with Hamish's swimming hat, her own tights and shrug cardigan watch out Vogue Emma's growing up.

Her curls admired by all

Daddy's bubbly spa bath, a little bubbles goes along way

Feeding the birds Lamington National Park

Emma was 17 months old yesterday and she is currently dealing with the pain of 1st Molars coming through not nice at all. But once they are here there will only be 8 more teeth to arrive. She is mostly a very happy little girl who plays and gets about the place making all around her laugh. Those who are not nearby don't know that her hair is growing and she has curls they are very cute and admired by all. She likes to wear hair clips and thanks to Nana and Aunty Naomi she has quite a collection of them. She touches her hairclips in her hair and says pretty. She has quite a few words now and can say shoes, hello, Daddy, Mummy, Mum, No, cheese, poo (when she has done one), dog, duck, pretty and car. The funny thing is she says cheese when she gets her photo taken cause Hamish has taught her that. She is a really climber and thinks that it is social acceptable to sit on the dinner table rather than at it. She is some what of a daredevil and climbs everything.

She loves shoes and hats as well as shopping bags she wears hats inside, outside anywhere really the other night she even had a bath with one on. You see Mummy picks the fights she wants to fight and wearing hats in the bath even if they do get soaking wet is just one she was prepared to let go.

So here she is when she is playing shop and has dressed herself well picked the clothes out you might think she looks a little chunky, that is because she has 2 skirts on there is a denim one on underneath and that is Hamish's swimming hat she has teamed with a little shrug cardigan, she is a fashionista. Then there is her curls. The bubbly spa bath on our mini holiday, Dad put a bit of bubbles in and it goes a long way we nearly lost her in the bubbles but she loved them. And lastly feeding the birds in the Lamington National Park she thought that it would be a good idea to put the seed into the birds beaks for them (she is helpful) and wasn't bothered that they were on her head or arms.

Ipswich Model Train Club's Lego Train Layout

Hamish and the Ipswich Model Train Clubs Layout

I confess I think it would be pretty good to live in Lego City seeing there is so many cool cars, planes, trains and trucks. There doesn't seem to be any schools or boring office jobs. Anyway as my dining room has recently become Legoland or Lego Messyland depending on which step of the building and rebuilding process we are in. Here are some pictures and also some of when we went to a Model Train Club a few weekends ago and saw their Lego Train Layout

Emma Update

Well I will admit it I have not kept up to this blog especially with stats about Emma. She is now 15 months nearly 16 months and she eats, talks (we don't understand her much though), walks, finds trouble at every opportunity and is a real little cutie. She now has 10 teeth and she is mostly a really good little girl. She loves her Papa and Mama and is happy to stay with them while Mummy has appointments or school to help out at. She could love Mama a little more as she is a really big Papa fan and it comes across as being mean when she favours him to Mama. I tell her that she will learn in time that it is Mama that keeps the meals coming in that house and it is Mama who is the shopper so when she fully understand this Papa's status might drop a little. She has all these funny little Emma ways like she loves Hats and shoes she will wear anyones hat or shoes and believe me it is not easy to get Dad's RM Boots on either but she does and then she can't walk anywhere. Mums thongs are much easier to get round in. She also adores her dressing gown, while I admit it is pretty cutie and snuggly it just isn't meant to be worn all day over the top of jeans and tshirts. Nor do you turn up to school to pick your brother up in it. She also likes gift bags (you know the ones that presents come in) or small paper shopping bags she carries them round the house collecting things or just empty for hours, tonight she even wanted to get in the bath with them and wasn't too pleased when we took them off her. Needless to say she went to bed with them in her hands and I have removed them from her clutches now that she is sleeping and I have to hide them otherwise it will be the same deal tomorrow. So there is an update on our little Miss who brings laugher and sunshine to our days.

A Day out to see Porsche Cars

Today we went to see the Porsche Club Concours Day and here is Hamish with his new favourite colour car (blue) and the rest of us in the lovely gardens of Ormiston House. It was a lovely day out in the sunshine and the Devonshire Tea was lovely too. Oh yeah and the cars that were all spectacular and there was lots to look at and keep Emma's hands off.

Finally 5 years old

Well yesterday our little man turned 5 finally. Apparently now he is going to do so many things (well we hope he will) that he has always said when I am 5 I will......... So apparently he will eat Brocolli, sausages and the list goes on.

His Birthday started at 6 am in the morning when it was still dark or as he says was still night time as Daddy had a early morning work breakfast. Well atleast there was plenty of time to play with the new lego and rocket launcher he received. School was a great day spent with his friends and teachers and they all enjoyed the Cupcakes made by Mummy and decorated with dinosaurs sprinkles by Hamish. Dinner was just at home with many family phone calls and his favourite dinner Pizza followed by Jelly.

Then today was the Snake Party and it was great fun. There was sack races, water bomb throwing, pin the tongue on the snake, water pistol wars, eating donuts of strings and a pinata. It was noisy and crazy at times but everyone had a great time. Thanks to all our family and friends for making this such a lovely and special time for Hamish.

Emma's Easter Bonnet

Hamish decided that Emma shouldn't miss out so with the help of Mummy he made an Easter Bonnet for Emma using the leftover materials from his school one. Emma loves it and her she is modelling it on her rocking horse/dog. She keeps putting it on and off her head and is very proud to wear it. We think she wears it well and pretty cute.

Easter Bonnet Parade

Today was the last day of 1st term of school and the Preps put on a lovely Easter Bonnet Parade. All the Bonnets were made by themself and as you can see H's has a lovely Easter Bunny Express on it and loads of eggs, feathers and other decorations.

Playing in the rocks

Seeing that there is no sand left in the sandpit the kids play trucks and digger in the rocks here they working hard together last weekend. Emma is dressed in dark clothes as this learning to walk/crawling stage is very dirty and messy on her clothes. She is walking very well on her own but if she wants to get somewhere fast crawling is the best way to get there.

Aaaah me hearties it is a Pirate Party

Firstly sorry it has been awhile since we have updated this blog. So here goes H attended a great Pirate Party at one of his friends place on 13th March complete with a slip n slide so the little pirates got to walk the plank (aka slip n slide) it was loads of fun and there was so much squealing you could have been mistaken thinking it was a party full of girls and not 10 boys. H looked like a great pirate complete with make up done by Dad. Check out the mo!!!!! We love our little pirate boy.

Guess where we went today........

Well it was to the Clem7 and for those who are not local that is the name of the new tunnel and road beneath the Brisbane inner city and Brisbane River. There was an open day and you could walk in it and take a free bus ride through it. As we have been watching it being built for so long and Hamish was alway keen on knowing what they were doing and how it was done. We thought we would go along and check it all out for ourselves. We didn't walk all the way through as someone's knees wouldn't hold up to that and Mummy couldn't piggyback him for 6.8 km so a bit of a walk in and out had to do. We did make it to underneath the Ekka grounds check the picture out with Hamish. Emma enjoyed the 2 bus rides there and part of the tunnel walk and as it was nap time and the tunnel was lovely and cool she had a sleep and then woke up on the train station platform waiting to go home. Hamish took some of the photos himself.

Hamish's First Day of School (Albeit a bit late)

Yes I know he has been at school now for nearly a month but our photo storage thingo went in for repairs and I never actually got to upload the first day of school photos so here they are. Hamish started school on Wednesday 23rd January and he looked very smart in his uniform and his school bag which is more like a parachute is nearly bigger than him and fully packed is rather heavey to carry. So he is getting stronger and better at carrying it on his back but school is tiring so Mum comes in handy to carry it or better still if Emma is in the pram the pram carries the bag. The traffic to school on the first day was absolutely crazy and it was a rather hot and humid day they were the only dramas. There was no tears from Mum or Hamish so that surprised everyone. After a bit of a chat from the teacher to all the children and parents Hamish was able to chose a book to read with Mum then once that was finished it was time to get down to school business so a kiss goodbye and see you at 2.30 pm. Hamish then headed straight for the tub of Lego and Mummy had to say you better ask Mrs Irving when you can play with that as she just wants you to sit on the mat now. Hamish wasn't too impressed about that but did what he was told and Mummy left a happy, brave and very grown up boy on the mat in the class with some of the other children. Others were a bit upset and crying and others were taking longer to say goodbye. Here are pictures from the first 2 days. Daddy came along for school drop off on the 2nd day as he had been in a work meeting on the first day and unable to make it.

One and oh so grown up

She might have only turned one a week ago......but she is oh so grown up. Yesterday I caught her on my mobile phone and then today she was looking after and feeding her babies, she even had to show Mama what you have to do.

Happy 1st Birthday

Our little girl turned 1 on Sunday and it was a lovely party in the park and thankfully there was a bit of a breeze and lots of shade so it wasn't as hot has it has been the last week or so. We had a Butterfly Cake, little frog and ladybeetle cup cakes, tea cup biscuits and loads of other yummy afternoon tea treats and a pinata that took a bit of wacking to break (perhaps 4 layers of papier mache was too many). Now at 1 year old she can climb the stairs and come back down them safetly, she eats almost anything we give her and still asks for more, she says hello, walks while hanging onto us or something and will stand on her own for a few seconds. She is a determined little Miss and we love having her around. She weighs 9.3kg and is 75 cm tall, she still only has 2 bottom teeth and a little bit of hair. What she misses out on teeth and hair she makes up for in personality she wins over all the Grandpas at the shops and is a real little socialite. She just needs to improve her sleeping as this is a weakness of hers. Thanks to all the lovely Birthday presents we now have a growing family of babies and dollys in our house and the numbers are even rivalling the trucks. She seems to love them all and has no favourites yet. She is a very lucky little girl to have so many family and friends who love her as much as we do. Happy Birthday Emma may you always be happy and sweet.
